Padel Rackets for Women: How to Choose (Plus Our Picks)
Weight, shape, balance and grip size explained, plus the light, comfortable rackets we recommend for women.

Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports for women in South Africa, and choosing the right racket makes a big difference to comfort and confidence on court. There is no rule that says women must use a “women’s” racket, but many players benefit from a lighter racket with a balance that is easy on the arm. This guide explains what to look for and the rackets we recommend.
Do women need a different padel racket?
Not necessarily. The right racket depends on your level, playing style and physical comfort, not your gender. Many strong female players use the same rackets as men. That said, women’s models are often lighter and lower in balance, which helps with:
- faster reactions at the net,
- less strain on the wrist, elbow and shoulder,
- better control during long rallies.
What to look for
- Weight: around 335 g to 360 g suits most female players. Lighter is quicker; heavier is more stable.
- Shape: round for beginners and control players, teardrop for all-rounders, diamond only for confident attackers.
- Balance: low to medium balance is easier to handle and kinder to the arm.
- Grip size: a thinner handle can suit smaller hands. You can always build it up with an overgrip.
